Jogja Java Carnival 2011 - Wonders of the World Arrive in Yogyakarta


Jogja Java Carnival (JJC), is an annual cultural and artistic performances of Yogyakarta which this year will take place on October 22, 2011. Eight monuments and wonders of the world will be present in Yogyakarta, the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids & Spinx, Forbidden City, the Sleeping Buddha, the Taj Mahal, the Tower of Pisa & the Acropolis, as well as the Trojan Horse.

Eight replicas of monuments and wonders of the world it will be worked by hundreds of artists Yogya, to enliven the event Jogja Java Carnival (JJC). JJC itself was held to welcome the Anniversary of the City of Yogyakarta-225 which crashed on October 22, 2011.

Replicas will be paraded along the Malioboro Street to the North Square of the city of Yogyakarta. "With the spirit of this celebration of cultural unity, Jogja Java Carnival event is designed as a creative event to invite the world sees our country, Indonesia," said Rukman Rosadi, coordinator of the Creative Team JJC, Tuesday, August 2, 2011.


In the event later, according to Rosadi, carnival JCC will be followed by participants from Jakarta, Semarang, Salatiga, Bandung, even from foreign countries such as Singapore, Japan and the United Kingdom. "Group of Solo Carnival and Carnival Jember also we take," added the Rev. Harry Ong, one of the Creative Team JCC.


According Rosadi, JCC is a creative skill performance for participants in making their work. These works, he said, referring to the theme of 'Wonders of the World.' "But this theme is not limited to the wonders of the world are officially recognized today," said Rosadi.


Participants JCC, said Rosadi, free to choose the material wonders that deserve to be presented to the world. "Including the wonders that exist in all parts of Indonesia," he said. The works will then be assessed by the jury for the first prize worth a total of Rp100 million. The first winner of the right won a prize of Rp55 million.

The works of the participants it will be placed on the stage running. The contestants are also required to use a street performance (the show on the road) as part of the unity of theme which includes the concept of carnival costumes and dances. Performing the path must be followed by at least 20 people and a maximum of 100 people. "Obviously this will be a spectacle of interest along Jalan Malioboro, Yogyakarta both for residents and tourists," said Rosadi.
